If you're just starting out solo, use a sole proprietorship. Much less complicated than S-corp (double taxation) and sometimes LLC (depending on your state) come tax time. Find a financial advisor/CPA/CFP and have a consult chat with them; I'd be happy to recommend one on the west coast.

I am not a lawyer, CPA, CFP, advisor, etc; these are just my opinions, etc.
