[consulting] Taxonomy Image replacement for D7

TI will eventually have a 7.x version; Views support may take a bit longer, if it is needed. In D7, one may manually add an image field to taxonomy terms, which means that Views should then see it. "Fields in core" is probably the most disruptive change in D7 and has a major effect on TI. The claim that TI is no longer needed seems to be exaggerated, but for what you are asking, the manual process may be sufficient.
