Oh, I have no problem with that, and I understand. :-)

It's just that I've never contributed a patch that needed to be in core before,
just to contrib modules, so I wasn't sure if I'd missed a step in bringing the
bug to the right person's attention.

Steven has replied to my issue today, so I think the problem will get solved
one way or the other.
