here is a list with some important core patches:

  1. http://drupal.org/node/76591 -- improve usability of installer.
  2. http://drupal.org/node/76785 -- improve user #1 registration.
  3. http://drupal.org/node/34505 -- admin/user filter functionality.
  4. http://drupal.org/node/63881 + http://drupal.org/node/77875 --  
rethink the watchdog logging a bit and make it possible to log to  
(ii) website/watchdog, (ii) syslog and (iii) /dev/null
  5. http://drupal.org/node/75002 -- requirement checking for core
  6. http://drupal.org/node/76596 -- continue to investigate seperate  
template files + make Drupal easier to theme for
