Looks like this was finally indexed by Drupal Docs, 
http://drupaldocs.org/api/head/function/hook_update_N, but it went and 
proved that HTML isn't allowed. I'll fix that in a bit unless someone 
else does.

Btw, what version of Drupal is Drupal Docs running? I'll probably set up 
a copy locally if it is CVS.
