Yup. and I fully support a patch that uses it.

The only reason I recommended we do db_* functions, is because it has  
fewer moving parts, and is
pretty much like what we already have.

I didn't want to see us write an sql parser, but if one already  
exists (which coincidentally happens to
be written by a trusted drupal contributor) we should definitely use it.
