whenever someone's getting ready to actually commit any of this to CVS, 
i'd encourage you to do the steps i outlined in a previous post.  as 
promised, here's a copy of the script i have to do this (care of one of 
my co-workers, an amazingly helpful and knowledgeable faculty member at 
UW-Madison by the name of Marv Solomon):

again, i'd be happy to answer any questions if you don't follow what 
it's doing.  however, the comments at the top of the script are verbose 
and clear, so that's probably all you need.
