This sounds like a GoodThing to me. Something cool that could be done 
with this also, would be to redirect extra aliases from the table to the 
  preferred alias.

That'd help a lot with web analytics, etc by being able to have multiple 
ways for people to arrive at the same location but also being able to 
always track it as a single path.
