When I first saw in the previous announcement of 5.1+4.7.6 the
suggestion to go to 5.0 first, I also thought that it was an oversight
with a copy/paste. But then I noticed in the announcement of 5.2+4.7.7
that it was updated to "go to 5.1 first" and I wondered if there was a
reason.
