The light begins to go on...  I was thinking .tpl.php were theme files, not
module files.  I see now they are module provided functioning prototypes of
a sort.  There's probably a proper name for this.  ;-)  Thanks, Earl!

Yes, agreed, getting presentation logic out of buried code is fantastic.
