given that such a patch would be:

a) small
b) easy to generate
c) clearly a good move

i'd say you should just do it, submit the patch, and post the issue  
link here.  then, instead of a bunch of "+1" emails to the whole  
list, interested parties can review, +1 to death, and RTBC... ;)
