Ok, then sorry for not posting the balanced explanation that you could have 
written.

Nevertheless, I was not aware that this mailing list needs prior consent 
before messages may be posted. (If this was the case, I believe moderation 
would probably be enabled.) Not that I want to sound arrogant, but keeping 
stuff untold is quite likely to lead to someone else (in this case, me) 
trying to find the explanation and getting it not quite as right, at least
if the announcement is interesting enough to wonder about it.
