But...  No one wanted to fix the book module.  :)

Or at least, no one who could.  Can you?

The current model is to have main drupal documentation *development* 
exist seperately, and then copy it over. 

At the very least, even if you clean up the book module, I do think this 
is a good idea for the initial rewrite to give it some initial consistency.
