If you think that there should be a limit for the depth of of 
bookpages, because that is usability-wise better, then I don't 
understand why you would like to add an option for that?

I think that limitting the book pages to a certain depth of (3-4 
clicks) is a good idea and improves userfriendlyness. The only thing 
is, it's not backwards compatible imo.

Maybe we can define a constant for this at the top of the module by 
doing a LIMIT_BOOK_DEPTH = '4';?
I'm all for a function that let us override these kind of options in 
the settings.php, but not add any more clutter to the administration 
area that implements even more (unnessecary) functions then we already 
have...
