I'm going to run with this to talk about my idea for "bounties".
Basically, post a bunch of feature requests/module ideas that are
moderately specced-out, which would give people a place to throw some
money and/or spend some development time.
"Fixing" printer-friendly views would be an excellent feature request.
It's Not A Bug(tm) because that's the way the code is currently
written as Goba explains, but doing a re-format would be great.
Here's my shortlist
* remove "printer friendly" from book and make it available to all
node types (part of default workflow which nodes you want to have a PF
link for)
* for hierarchical displays based around book, do on the fly
re-formatting to normalize hX headers
