One other thing I thought of today. It can also be a good idea to reset 
the theme to bluemarine and turn off all contributed modules before 
running the upgrade. I've had experiences with some upgrades where an 
enabled contrib module or theme would make it hard or impossible to get 
into the site after upgrading core. IMHO, it's better to make sure the 
core upgrade has worked by accessing the site, then focus on updating 
the contributed modules and additional themes one-by-one (easier to 
troubleshoot if you have a new version of one with a bug in it when only 
upgrading one at a time).
