I think the main problem for me is that I don't know what artist
want. In general, this is a features list and I think to appeal to
artists you need to acknowledge the challenges of artists. Let me
speculate a bit, but I suggest you do either an informal or real
survey. You can ask Charlie about audience research or I can point
you to some stuff.

1) They don't have a budget for marketing their work.
2) They need to stay in touch with their fan base and supporters.
3) Showcase for their work
4) They need a place to get input from their community and look for
inspirations.

I don't think that is right, but let's start there. So have a
section called marketing for artists.
Marketing
-website, google ad words, blog, rsvp, trackback
Staying in touch section
-volunteer, mailing list, rsvp, contact, contact manager, events
Showcase
Images, podcasts, reviews, upload
Community
Blogs, trackback, comments, directory of artists so single sign-on, etc.

So you won't be emphasizing features, you'll be emphasizing the
problems of artists and then teasing them with a potential solution.
I would also suggest that people in an industry don't want to be
trail blazers so they are more likely to do something if you can cite
examples of other members of the industry that have already made the
switch. So give simple case examples of Moby, musicforamerica,
youthmovementrecords, LINC, your stuff etc.

Hope that helps. Hopefully you'll get some comments from other folks
soon. Keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Kieran
