Oh, but I also mean those hovering over an easel. I
mean any artist or artist organization that has access
to the internet and wants to create but can't tap into
any networks or can't create a dynamic website.
The kinds of problems I outline definitely exist in
other community types, but no one seems to be
documenting them. I'm sure there would be overlapping
 user needs between community types.

I don't propose to change the core to suit the needs
of just a portion of our user base. I'm suggesting
that instead of guessing what our user base needs, we
can more concretely determine what they are so we can
market to them effectively. Otherwise we close off
those markets that could benefit from Drupal but don't
understand how it applies to them, or don't have the
tech background to hack away at it until it works for
them.

If anything, Drupal right now satisfies only a portion
of our user base: coders and web developers. The
language (node, taxonomy) is technical on purpose to
facilitate development. If Drupal is to ever expand
to other markets then we must open up this language to
other audiences so they aren't scared off.
