Well, something seems extremely odd now.

     I just changed the alias of node/391 from cvs to handbook/cvs.
But drupal.org/cvs still takes me to node/391.  On the other hand,
the the path alias field when I go to edit this node still shows
repos, which was the old alias.

     Caching?  Djun
