Just you don't think you are not being listened to, I have Darwin Ports  
installed and tried to install Tetex.

Kieran:~ kieran$ port search tetex
teTeX           print/teTeX     3.14159         TeX and METAFONT
Kieran:~ kieran$ port install teTex

Kieran:~ kieran$ port search LaTex
latex2rtf       textproc/latex2rtf      1.9.16a         Translator

convert RTF text into LaTeX code
rtf2latex2e     textproc/rtf2latex2e    1.0fc1          Filter to  
convert rtf files into LaTeX2e code.

I haven't had the chance to try and install the rpm package manager  
yet, or debug this permissions problem with how I have darwin ports  
installed.
