 From Information Architecture for designers:
"Personas are descriptions of archetypical examples of your target
audience. Personas should be used by the entire team throughout the
development of the website. They excel at describing motivation and
goals for specific parts of the target audience."

Example person: Shannon

Shannon is a system administrator. She is not married, but is in a
long-term relationship. She spends her limited free time on weekends
maintaining her Soccer Leagues community Drupal site. She would
like to write applications for her site but does not find she has
enough time. She estimates that she spend 30 minutes a week on the
weekends administering her site. Documentation is very important for
her because she doesn't have time to wait for responses to her forum
posts, or read wordy documentation with lots of messy comments. She
likes to print out the documentation and keeps it by her computer.
But she still visits www.drupal.org once or twice a week to look for
new applications.

Shannon's goals are:

* To keep her Drupal community site up and running.

* To empower the team captains of her soccer league to use Drupal so
she does not have to do the data entry herself.

* To be able to quickly find help to problems that occur over the
week. She wants to minimize the total time she spends fixing
problems and get time to put some her good ideas to use.

* To install and administer more modules to meet the requests of the
team captains.

Shannon enjoys being the site administrator for her Soccer League.
She likes that she can beat obnoxious guys on the soccer field and
out geek them as well. She enjoys being able to impress her team
mates by adding the latest and greatest applications and everybody
thinks she is awesome for having the best local sports team site.
She gets frustrated when she can't solve problems on her site and
people say that maybe she should switch to plone or yahoo groups.
She likes being in control of the data and having the freedom to
configure the site as she sees fit.
