In copyrighting the expression is they are no great copyrighters only great
rewriters.

Removing words, paragraphs is a very valuable technique.

I was listening to US national public radio this weekend and they were
criticizing the essay section of the new standardized college  
exams.   Experts indicated that people wrote best when they were able  
to do  multiple revisions.
