Helllo, after reviewing early feedback from the Adminstration survey we
saw that upgrading Drupal was a common issue. CivicSpace has been
distributing an UPGRADE.txt file which points to
http://civicspacelabs.org/home/upgrade. Dries has committed an
UPGRADE.txt file to the Drupal distribution.
The CS upgrade instructions were created after conducting a series of
interviews with CivicSpace administrators. We made a list of all the
tasks involved in upgrading and prioritized it. There was a strong
insistence that upgrading should be a 2 step process. There was also
an insistence that the default upgrade instructions should be for
people using GUI clients and web hosting accounts. The reason being
that people who have shell access are more technically skilled and
capable. We have parallel instructions for those with GUI client
access and those with command line access.
I am proposing that we move the CivicSpace Upgrade instructions to the
Drupal Handbook and rebrand it to Drupal. From a technical standpoint
the Drupal and CivicSpace(Drupal + contribs) are identicle.
To improve the instructions we need more screen shots of FTP Clients
and Web Hosting interfaces.
Any volunteers want to work on this?
