I can make a Drupal site with book module available for such a group to
collaborate on. I have done so before. Perhpas you could start with an
outline to the docs list to garner intial feedback?

Subject: [documentation] beginners manual -- Re: documentation
Digest, Vol 21, Issue 30
Hi Everyone,
Interesting thread. I agree that we need manuals geared for
beginners: sort of a Drupal Quick Setup Guide or Beginners Guide. You
read this guide and you can quickly set up a web site by just following
the step by step guide -- no need to really understand what's going on,
just set up a site. I've been working slowly on this one and I'd be
happy to hook up with others who have similar efforts. I'm not sure if
there is a coordinated effort on this already. If there is, i'd be glad
to join. If not, we can surely benefit from synergy here. (Kindly email
me personally so we can all hook up).
Another issue this brings up is once again that of a Drupal
Basic Install configuration. Kinda like a tutorial setup -- first time
you fire up Drupal, you get a basic site with sample primary links. Then
the sample story nodes contain self-help guides.
Thanks,
benc
