Sad to say it is hopelessly un-clear... You are correct in saying that
much of this information is technically 'different' - but not different
enough - or rather - far too similar - and the result is absolute confusion.

I was reading the CVS documentation today because I wanted to roll out a
release of a new contrib module.  Quite frankly the documentation is so
confusing that I was afraid to try and commit something for fear I might
break the entire freaking conrtib repo.

(I'll get over my fear eventually - once i digest the information
again).  The worst part about this is that I don't have suggestions for
improvement, because I don't 'get it' and therefore couldn't express the
information in a way that others might 'get it.'

Can we just switch to SVN ;-)  And i'll write the new documentation :-)
