Right. This is a core principle of user-centered design: user 
involvement. Relying on the "developer as user" for the main user input 
in Drupal development will not accurately address all of the needs (I 
suspect only a minority of the needs) of the larger community of Drupal 
users. It's a common problem in FOSS development communities, one that 
Drupal has worked towards in small ways and one that it needs to overcome.
