I am fairly certain you can't without mod_rewrite. There's another
Apache module that does URL futzing that MAY work, I haven't tried and
can't remember the name, but if they're not giving you mod_rewrite then
they won't give you something even more obscure.

Get a real webhost. mod_rewrite is the standard for clean URLs in any
web app I've seen. :-)

Hallo,

my provider wants quite some extra $$ for a web package that offers
mod_rewrite. I'm getting along with what I have well - except for the
mod_rewrite which seems to be necessary for clean urls.

My question: Is there a way to get clean urls without mod_rewrite? If
so, it would be very nice to also descripe such a possibility somewhere
in drupal help.

Thanks,
-hausig
