Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
> How about using (parts of) or linking to http://drupal.org/about?
Yes, that text is better.
> "world wide web server" seems odd and very old. just plain webserver will do imho
I was writing with my parents as the target audience, they talk that way :-)
> "This Themegarden showcases some of..."
Bèr used theme garden in his email, I just copied .....
I've dropped the CMS/framework reference. People will likely care more
about function than definition. When they do get to caring, the About
section can do the heavy lifting.
Take 2 (liberally stolen from About):
Drupal web server software allows an individual, company or community
of users to publish, manage and organize content without worrying
about programming or HTML layout. Tens of thousands of people and
organizations have used Drupal to set up scores of different web
sites, including:
- community web portals and discussion sites
- corporate web sites/intranet portals
- personal web sites
- aficionado sites
- e-commerce applications
- resource directories
Drupal's "look" is controlled by selectable themes. The Theme Garden
showcases the richness and variety of themes available.
