I have tried to pose this questions several times to the documentation
list, but for whatever reason my mails are not going through. I figured
I am probably expected to submit a bug report, so here it is. We can
track string update progress for 5.0. Translators are eager to start
their work. When is that status of the interface expected?

I'd personally like to have until RC1 to do a "string freeze" -- there's
a lot of goldplating type of things I'd like to do, like taking out \'
and such from strings throughout core, and letting the betas get input
from a few more people.

If I totally misunderstood what you said, I apologize.

String freeze, yes that was the question. It is good to see that even
better quality stuff is going to the interface strings. Thanks!

Oh, and please update this issue at least when you see that a string
freeze is already done, and we can go generate those translation
templates for the community. Thanks.
