Why? Well, I've been on the docs team for, gosh, seems like ages, now, and
haven't accomplished more than a handful of docs. I figure I'd better do
something big before Steven kicks me off for not pulling my weight. ;)

Seriously, though, as a user of the handbooks, I find myself frequently lost
in its depths. If I, an experienced Drupaller, am getting lost, how must the
newbies feel? So I've been focusing my efforts on making the handbook more
newbie friendly. My first thought was to start at the landing page and
totally rewrite that as seen on my site. That's met with some resistance, so
I'm trying a different angle by writing a book that's dedicated to new users
that provides a kinder, gentler, entry into the handbook. They can leave the
landing page as geeky as they want and new users can go to the comfy room I
built for them. :)

What can you do? If you want to help with the newbie docs, just pick a
section I'm not currently working on. I've been focusing on the customizing
and theming section and haven't really done much with the others. If there's
something you'd like to do, just stake your claim and I'll stay away from
that area.
