Hey there folks we have some critical Documentation bugs for the
Drupal 6 release. Now that Beta 1 is out we are trying to get Beta 2
ready to go. We need to have internal Help text for all of the core
modules to release. There are four that still need help:
Translation - http://drupal.org/node/172584
Update Status - http://drupal.org/node/172593
Syslog - http://drupal.org/node/172592
PHP Filter - http://drupal.org/node/172583
This is really critical for getting Drupal 6 out the door and you
will get your name on a patch in core! How can you help?
- Download Drupal HEAD (CVS checkout or HEAD tarball)
- Play with these modules. How do you configure them? What do they do?
- Write up a Help page (use admin/help/aggregator as an example -
note you need to turn on aggregator module to view the help)
If you are comfortable writing a patch, then you need to add the new
Help page text to the _help hook, which should be at the top of
the .module file for that module (again you can look at
aggregator.module if you need a guide.)
If you aren't comfortable with patches you can either a) learn! or b)
post your proposed text to the appropriate issue and I or someone
else will roll a patch for it. To learn about patches you can start
with the handbook page http://drupal.org/patch/create and then feel
free to ask follow up questions in IRC or back to this docs list and
we'll get folks sorted out. I am often on IRC with the nick add1sun
so feel free to ping me for patch help.
Also, we need to have handbook pages for these modules created as
well under the Core Modules section (http://drupal.org/handbook/
modules) so go ahead and create that page as well. Keep in mind we
can always tweak it - it doesn't have to be perfect. It is easier
for many people to edit and refine something that exists than to
create the original so if you can et us started we are 90% of the way
there.
Thanks!
