[support] Error when enabling modules (Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted ...)

   This is a new site, I was able to enable few modules but when tried 
to add 'audio' modules ('audio' module from 
http://drupal.org/project/modules) I got the following error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to 
allocate 14592 bytes) in /opt/drupal-4.7.3/database/updates.inc on line 1984

   any ideas? I looked at the code but it's not clear what the error 
means, looks more like some php related problem.

   system:
   - debian unstable
   - php5
   - mysql 5
   - drupal 4.7.3
