[support] Problem with 6.10 and file upload

I'd appreciate some help getting to grips with an odd behaviour we've
found since upgrading a site to 6.10 - the file attachments (using the
drupal core upload module) are either not working properly, or not
working as we expect...

There are two issues:

1. When creating or editing a node you can only add one file attachment.
If you put a second filename into the 'attach new file' box and click
'attach' it overwites the one already in the list. Never more than one
file can be displayed in the list. This is not the behaviour exhibited
by drupal.org and is not what we expect.

2. Once the content is saved, although the uploaded file is saved in
the /sites/default/files/ directory, it is not attached in the content
of the page or story.

The uploaded files can be subsequently linked to or embedded in content,
but they do not display as attached or uploaded content in the node in
which they were created.

This behaviour is new on the site since upgrade to 6.10 - so are we
failing to complete some part of the upgrade process, or is there an
error?
