I think the taxonomy_theme module might be what you are looking for.

Subject: [themes] Home page and other page not same theme. How ?
Hi, sorry for this possible stupid question: I need to create a theme
where homepage use one theme and other page use another. For theme I
intend the aspect that user see.
In home page I have some blocks/regions, in the other page I have only
one big block (for example).
How can I do it ? RTFM are wellcome.
M.
