Several hosting companies contacted the Drupal Association requesting to be
involved in the Drupal project. As they have been doing for years. In some
cases they want to fund conferences, or make straight up donations to the
Drupal Association. They inquired about membership fees, etc. We suggested
that we would like to explore paid advertising as a way to fund the growth
of the Drupal infrastructure. This was just one of many ways that the
Drupal association is exploring to fund the infrastructure.

After getting a feel for what kinds of offers were available we posted to
the front page of Drupal.org, a.d.o, and the consulting list to get feedback
and specific proposals from the community.

Cheers,
Kieran
