i think you're being harsh.  I actually wrote an email suggesting that this
was one of those agile/no fixed functionality projects... but i deleted it
;-)

imo the debate is healthy as i know of more than one entrepreneur who has
had 'engineers' say yes to any budget just for the 30% upfront.  Once you've
got 30% there are a myriad of ways to wriggle if you want to work like
that.
