I GoDaddy server is a dedicated server. Usually and probably the mysql
server is on the dedicated box. I doubt GoDaddy is the problem here.

The site is not that slow from Texas. In fact, it seemed a little
speedy. Which is good.

Some things to do in order to speed things up:

1. varnish+pressflow for unautheticated users
2. Memcache for autheticated users
3. APC

I really don't know if there is a reason to use the default D6
installation rather than Pressflow these days. Varnish is free and so
is Pressflow. And this combo makes everything fly!

If you don't want to try the Varnish thing yet, there are some tips on
httpd.conf here, of particular note is to turn on KeepAlive directive.
