On Mac OS X with MAMP, go into the Application/MAMP/logs/ and open  
the php_error.log. Go and try to enable the modules and when you get  
that error, switch over to the Console app and read the latest error  
message. Most likely a "PHP Fatal error:  Allowed memory size of  
XXXXXX bytes exhausted". This can be fixed by editing the php.ini  
file included with MAMP.
