[support] choosing parent item

Hi there,
I'm new to Drupal, so this question might be quite silly:
I thought that editing an article, I could control where it is displayed by
choosing the right parent item... which I did.
But my definition of the parent item gets set back to 'Navigation', and
'Page not found' is displayed when clicking where it should be...
