[support] jQuery for switching Views/Quicktabs display

I have a panel pane that contains a Quicktabs display of two views that list the same data:  one sorted by most popular, and one by most recent.  All that works really well.  However, I need to add two buttons to the left of the tabs that alters how the items are displayed.  One display is the current default display of just a cropped image 1 grid wide (using ninesixty theme), and the other one contains a more detailed listing with the title and a short teaser.  So the end results is four different displays of the same data

Any suggestions on how best to implement this?  I was thinking about adding two more displays in tabs and then using jQuery to hide/show the appropriate display when the appropriate button is clicked.  Is there an existing module I could use to accomplish this?
