Hi Katy.

I am a a total newbie with Drupal, too. Two things helped me grasp the concepts. One is having an experienced Drupal developer friend who has been patient with my million questions; the other was taking the course(s) on lynda.com so I could get some hands on experience with their exercise files. Good luck!

Then the files that it "should be in the folder" if the person followed convention. look for /sites/all/themes/theme-name/ in here "normally" will be the css etc. Now if they used a default theme and changed it then your looking at theme folders off root. But they can put the files anywhere technically.
