Pat, David, if you download the CivicSpace theme, you can use my foundation XHTML and layout.css files to achieve source-ordered 1, 2 and 3 column layouts that work across all browsers and allow clears. The CSS is soup, but it'll save you the thousands of hours it took me to debug this stuff.
Actually, mine is a 4 column layout. Working on making the columns movable so you can have logos,block,content,block or some combination of that.
Thousands of hours? I wish I had that time, I think it took me to 15 minutes to modify bluemarine to get what the initial layout.
