postponed is a wasteland that no one will ever look at except when there isn't enough to do already. postponed can mean a lot of things, and in general means "it isn't that important."
I've taken to thinking of it as a polite synonym for won't fix. I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I don't think I've ever re-opened an issue on any of my modules once I've marked postponed. I've taken to either closing them or marking them as feature requests for the next version. andrew
