[development] Theme lose HTML formatting after being changed

hello, I have been experiencing a very strange problem here. I am using Drupal6.8 Whenever I try to change even the text-color( the tiniest example) in my existing theme... The HTML formatting suddenly disappears!! I have no clue as to what is happening here..I am very new to Drupal Hope to receive a reply asap Thanks :) Radhika
