I definitely agree with that , just trying to be devil's advocate here ;) In a scenario where Drupal moves to PHP 5.2 on Feb 2008, lets say its Drupal 7 then. Will we continue to support Drupal 5.X & Dupal 6.X on PHP 4.X ? Or after the cutoff date all patches and upgrade will be only valid on PHP 5.2 ?
I think we'll continue to maintain the PHP 4-compatible version as PHP 4-compatible until the release itself becomes obsolete.
Yes, the agreement is that new feature releases post that date will assume 5.2. Projects are free to maintain support for older releases however they like for as long as they like. Just like Drupal 5 is/will be maintained as MySQL 3 compatible for as long as Drupal 5 is maintained even though Drupal 6 will require MySQL 4.1. -- Larry Garfield AIM: LOLG42 larry@garfieldtech.com ICQ: 6817012 "If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of every one, and the receiver cannot dispossess himself of it." -- Thomas Jefferson
