Hey folks, interesting (I think) announcement in the wordpress world this week that we may want to keep an eye on:
http://comox.textdrive.com/pipermail/wp-hackers/2007-May/012893.html
They're releasing the DB class used on wordpress.com which includes some of the following features: * Replication * Failover * Redundant (public/private) networks * Local and remote datacenters
Not sure what is meant by this, but if it is the -h flag for mysql we've had it for ages. ;)
* Partitioning
I've been told partionning would be the best thing since sliced bread.
* Different tables on different DBs
Boooooring.
* Advanced stats for profiling
* works only with MySQL (my guess ;)
That'd be a great list (for large-scale drupal sites) to have in our own abstraction layer, I think. One to keep an eye on...
David Strauss has been recently looking into replication and updating the old patch in crackerjm's sandbox: http://drupal.org/node/147160 People interested in this kind of feature should be looking at it and help getting it into core.
