I respectfully disagree completely. Software development is not all about solving the latest coding problem. In fact, the so-called "meta discussions" are really the largest and most important part, in a sense. Signal to noise on this list is probably the biggest problem in my view, where noise is defined (by me) as any reply that doesn't add new information or stake a out a different position (hence, most +1 and similar remarks are pretty much noise -- on rare occasion where the temperature of the community needs to be gauged they can be useful). Attempts to squelch opposing views is generally counter-productive, as well. If one is not interested in the topic, delete it. It will save you tons of time and consternation. ..chris On Mon, Mar 9, 2009 at 11:53 AM, Michael Favia <michael@favias.org> wrote:
I've noticed an increasing number of "meta discussions" and I'd like to try to refocus our collective efforts if possible. All of these discussions about regulating contribution module development or only releasing core when the top X modules are upgraded, are more distracting then they are productive in my opinion.
