Unpublished things might want to be published later. Deleted things are things that don't need to be seen again (at least thats the assumption at the time of deletion). The whole node status thing could use some work (I think drafts would be useful and the whole http://drupal.org/node/38451 mess for example), but is not relevant for a general delete API. -- Neil Drumm http://delocalizedham.com/
