alan's link points to a bootstrap bug thats been fixed. i don't think it strengthens anyone's argument unless you believe in folklore like "bad things happen when you switch themes" -moshe
There are, I agree, some applications for which theme switching can be very important. Generally it's best to use sub-themes so they all share a template.php file, but some sites may be simple enough that they don't do much theme overriding.
