Well, there could be a read-only cvs (or svn) mirror of core... :p Ya, we could use the git-cvsserver to still have anon-cvs access for core.
And then we could accept patches against that still so that small patches need no separate git branch and still everyone can write a patch w/o learning git but folks like me with their 200K patches can just submit a repo URL. I like this.
